Scenarios for "EU 2035" roles (futuristic mission scenarios) as a security provider

The scenarios are at role level but also contain tangible futuristic missions of the EU as a comprehensive security provider. They were developed based on multiple foresight information and data (e.g., including literature studies, experts workshops and interviews, and online questionnaires as well as analyses of EUROBAROMETER and other polls, and use of results of identified related projects), following the FOCUS method. Scenario development also was based on a set of transversal scenario drivers.

The scenarios for EU roles and how they were developed is described in own deliverables:

·         Deliverable 3.2: Alternative futures of the comprehensive approach 2035

·         Deliverable 4.2: EU 2035 roles related to natural disasters & global environmental change

·         Deliverable 5.2: EU 2035 roles related to critical infrastructure & supply chain protection

·         Deliverable 6.2: EU 2035 roles as a global actor based on the wider Petersberg tasks

·         Deliverable 7.2: EU 2035 internal framework and roles in internal security

The scenario descriptions as collected here were reviewed by the FOCUS team as a whole for consistency and accessibility, and in some cases improved. This was also done as a step towards the reference scenario process. The text of the scenario descriptions may thus differ from the Deliverable versions.

According to the FOCUS method, the scenarios for "EU 2035" security roles are context scenarios for the development of alternative futures for "Security Research 2035" supporting those roles.
